Job Title: Medical Director of Addiction Services

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Medical Director to lead our addiction services team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in addiction medicine and a proven track record of success in leading medical teams.

Responsibilities:

  1. Administrative Oversight:
  • Oversee and lead medical staff, dietitians, and the physician services coordinator.
  • Foster collaboration with nursing and clinical departments.
  1. Medical Care:
  • Provide excellent medical care to patients with addiction and co-occurring mental health disorders.
  • Handle detoxification protocols, medication assessments, and management of complications.
  • Understand and apply company criteria and Medical Needs Criteria in documentation.
  1. Policy and Procedure Development:
  • Assist in creating and maintaining objectives, policies, procedure manuals, and quality assurance programs.
  • Review medical policies and procedures annually.
  1. Planning and Budgeting:
  • Collaborate with the CMO, Executive Director, and governing authority to plan and budget for medical services.
  1. Support and Compliance:
  • Support medical staff in meeting department metrics like expense management, compliance quality, and treatment outcomes.
  • Ensure accurate and timely electronic health record documentation.
  1. Review of Off-Site Medical Reports:
  • Review off-site physical examination reports and medical screening results for pre-admissions and ongoing treatment plans.
  1. Performance Improvement:
  • Develop and implement performance improvement plans as needed.
  1. On-Call Responsibilities:
  • Provide contact and backup numbers, and be available when on-call, within one hour of the facility for emergencies.
  1. Other Duties:
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  1. Graduated from an accredited medical school.
  2. Minimum of 3 years in a supervisory role with familiarity in Joint Commission and DCF standards.
  3. Strong communication skills for interacting with all facility staff levels.
  4. Self-motivated and confident.
  5. Ability to develop and apply continuous quality and performance improvement strategies.
  6. Licensed to practice medicine (MD or DO) in the appropriate state.
