Nuclear Medicine Imaging Specialist

Nuclear Medicine Technologist is responsible for performing routine and specialized nuclear medicine procedures. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of nuclear medicine principles and be able to work independently to adapt procedures for specific diagnostic outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform diagnostic nuclear medicine procedures for patients of all ages, ensuring accurate and complete examinations within guidelines, policies, procedures, and standards of Medical Imaging.
- Exhibit competency in performing diagnostic imaging and radionuclide therapy, maintaining quality care throughout the procedure and practicing radiation protection.
- Complete scheduling, ordering radiopharmaceuticals, and patient preparation guidelines, as well as perform and document administrations of all radiopharmaceuticals.
- Maintain quality control records and images, camera floods, and follow all conditions of MMCI radioactive material license and IDNS regulations.
- Collaborate with the radiology team to interpret and communicate nuclear medicine findings, and maintain accurate and detailed records of nuclear medicine procedures and patient information.
Requirements:
- Associate's Degree in Radiology or a related field, or a Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
- Nuclear Medicine Tech Certification (NMTCB) within 1 year of hire, or (N)(ARRT) within 1 year of hire, or Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist upon hire.
- IEMA Nuclear Medicine License, IL State License in Nuclear Medicine, or Temporary License required upon hire.
- BLS within 30 days of hire.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Basic reading, writing, oral English skills.
- Accountability, multicultural sensitivity, customer/patient-focused, basic computer knowledge, critical thinking skills, and ability to respond appropriately to customer/co-worker interaction.
- Ability to maintain confidential information, communicate only the facts to recipients or decline to reveal information, and project a professional, friendly, helpful demeanor.
Work Environment:
This role may occasionally require travel to other Carle Health facilities. The ideal candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain a professional attitude in the area toward fellow technologists/students, fostering mutual respect and creating a productive learning environment.
