We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Medical Assistant to join our team at Corizon Health, Inc.
About the RoleThis is a rewarding opportunity to work in a correctional setting, providing healthcare services to inmates. As a Medical Assistant, you will be responsible for monitoring patient vital signs, implementing orders for diagnostic lab tests, maintaining inventory of supplies, and assisting the RN or LVN as needed.
Key Responsibilities- Monitors patient vital signs, including temperature, pulse, and blood pressure.
- Implements orders for diagnostic lab tests according to site policy and The Joint Commission standards.
- Maintains inventory of supplies, ensuring that all necessary equipment and materials are available.
- Assists the RN or LVN as needed in the medical unit, within the scope of practice.
- Maintains confidentiality of medical records and documents health-related encounters for patients in SOAP format.
- Records EKGs as directed by the nurse and assists with minor procedures.
- Maintains and cleans medical unit/equipment on a daily basis and as needed.
- Works in conjunction with the nurse to maintain daily duties required to run the clinic in an organized fashion.
- Assists with maintaining SENTRY and CorrecTek recordkeeping.
- Obtains specimens as directed and in accordance with policies and procedures within the scope of practice.
- Utilizes infection control techniques consistently.
To be successful in this role, you must have:
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a medical assistant program from a vocational, technical, or career school.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant or licensure as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
- A minimum of three years of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in correctional healthcare.
- The ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
- The ability to kneel, stoop, crouch, and/or crawl occasionally.
- Frequent walking throughout the facility, including walking up and down flights of stairs.
- Sufficient strength, agility, and endurance to perform during stressful situations.
