Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Mammography Technologist to join our team at Nazareth Hospital. As a Mammography Technologist, you will be responsible for performing high-quality mammography procedures, educating patients, and maintaining a safe and clean environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assume responsibility for the use of proper exposure and protective measures for each patient's safety
  • Appropriately educate and explain procedures to patients
  • Modify approach based on needs and developmental level of patient
  • Assess patients for potential risk factors
  • Follow appropriate departmental protocol for procedures unless specified differently by the Radiologist
  • Obtain and document patient history and pertinent information
  • Insure proper identification of patient
  • Clarify and follow Doctor's orders
  • Provide for patient privacy
  • Produce quality mammography for interpretation
  • Perform sterile technique when performing biopsy procedures
  • Respond effectively in an emergency situation
  • Adhere to infection control standards specific to patient care
  • Complete work within an acceptable time frame
  • Act as a patient advocate and uphold patient rights
  • Prioritize/organize work assignments and adjust priorities based on changing situations
  • Promote/maintain a safe, clean and orderly work environment
  • Consult and communicate with other departments in a professional manner
  • Demonstrate understanding of safety, health and morale needs of customers/co-workers by taking steps to ensure those needs are met
  • Follow ISCD guidelines for Bone Density procedures
  • Operate medical imaging equipment properly, safely and ensure it is in acceptable condition
  • Demonstrate awareness of Radiation Safety procedures for self and others
  • Replenish and change supplies in assigned area as needed
  • Ensure equipment is in acceptable conditions by conducting routine quality control
  • Follow department standards for reporting malfunctions or problems
  • Follow regulatory guidelines and perform QA/QC as mandated by ACR/MQSA
  • Follow mammographic procedures for needle localizations
  • Follow mammographic procedure for stereotactic biopsy
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Technical School/1 Year College
  • 2-4 years of experience
  • ARRT Registration
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Mammography License
