We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Sign Language Interpreter to support students in grades K-5. This role is crucial for facilitating effective communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and their peers and educators.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide accurate and clear sign language interpretation for students, teachers, and staff during classroom activities, meetings, and other school-related events.
  • Assist students in understanding instructional content and participating fully in classroom activities, ensuring their needs are met in both academic and social settings.
  • Work closely with teachers, school staff, and parents to develop strategies for effective communication and support for deaf or hard-of-hearing students.
  • Modify interpretation methods as needed to accommodate various communication styles and preferences of students.
  • Maintain records of services provided, including any observations or feedback relevant to the students' communication needs and progress.

Requirements:

  • Certification: Valid certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (e.g., RID Certification) preferred.
  • Experience: Experience interpreting for students in educational settings, particularly in grades K-5, is preferred.
  • Skills: Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and excellent communication skills. Ability to work effectively with young children and adapt to their varying needs.
  • Education: Relevant degree or coursework in sign language interpretation or a related field preferred.

The salary for this position is estimated to be around $60,000 per year, based on the location and industry standards.
