Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Mental Health Support Specialist to join our team at UHS. This is an excellent opportunity for nursing students to gain valuable hands-on experience while enrolled in their program.

Responsibilities
As a Mental Health Support Specialist, you will be a vital member of our interdisciplinary team, providing direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Your primary responsibilities will include creating a safe and therapeutic milieu, intervening in crises, and coaching patients as needed. You will also have the opportunity to augment your education through experiential learning and work with clients who have poor social skills, substance abuse issues, and various mental illnesses.

Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to have completed the fundamentals of nursing and have experience working in a mental health setting (preferable). You must also obtain CPR certification, age-specific training, and patient aggression management training within 90 days of employment. Additionally, you will need to demonstrate thorough knowledge of general and psychiatric nursing processes, therapeutic relationships, and crisis management.

Skills and Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. You will also need to be flexible, adaptable, and able to prioritize tasks efficiently. As a self-starter, you will be goal-oriented, results-driven, and able to maintain confidentiality. Strong customer service skills and the ability to work with diverse populations are essential for this role.

Salary and Benefits
We offer a competitive salary range of $38,000 - $50,000 per year, depending on experience, plus benefits, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) matching, and paid time off.
