Job Summary

The City of Fremont is seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to serve as the Program Coordinator for the After School Academy (ASA) program. This is a unique opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of students in grades 1st through 6th.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate all aspects of the ASA program, including planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Establish and maintain program records and computer databases.
  • Supervise and assign programming tasks to instructors and volunteers.
  • Maintain regular communication with school principals, teachers, and parents regarding student needs.
  • Provide regular program updates, including written reports, to the Supervisor.
  • May work independently or in a team environment, depending on program requirements.
  • Provide expertise and support to the Supervisor.
  • Enforce City policies and procedures.
  • May be required to work variable hours, including evenings and weekends.
Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must possess one of the following: 48 college semester units, AA degree or higher, or relevant technical skill, education, experience, or expertise.
  • Experience assisting with implementation of children and/or youth programs and activities.
  • Ability to establish and maintain productive relations and positive attitude toward others.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Excellent organizational and supervisory skills, be resourceful, flexible, and able to work both alone or as a team member.
  • Must be reliable and able to provide transportation.
  • Available to work Monday through Friday, 12:00pm-6:00pm schedule.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree with teaching experience preferred.
  • Experience in implementation and programming of ASES grant funded programs.
  • Ability to frequently interpret and translate a language other than English among students, parents, and school-based staff members.
Requirements for Employment
  • Must be able to handle sensitive and/or stressful situations or information with tact, discretion, and significant awareness of confidentiality.
  • Must effectively communicate with adults and children from a variety of cultural backgrounds.
  • Willingness to comply with suspected child abuse reporting.
Selection Process

Qualified applications will be evaluated on the basis of related experience and quality of presentation. The most highly qualified applicants will be invited to an oral interview. Applicant evaluations may include a written and physical test. Satisfactory candidates will be placed on an eligibility list. Placements are anticipated immediately after the list is established. Some placements may be assigned to emphasize public education as the City's needs require. Some positions may require a health evaluation.
