Job Summary

As a Second Shift Operations Manager at Macuch Steel Products, you will be responsible for overseeing the execution of production on the 2nd shift, ensuring efficient workflow, adherence to safety protocols, and achievement of daily output targets. This role requires a strong leader who can direct and train a team of approximately 15 employees, while also driving continuous improvement and Lean manufacturing principles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure Safety procedures are being followed and maintain a culture of Safety as a top priority.
  • Lead a production team to achieve throughput targets and exceed customer expectations.
  • Develop and implement performance metrics to measure plant performance on a daily basis.
  • Assist in the achievement of daily, weekly, and monthly throughput and profitability targets.
  • Understand customer expectations, job profitability, capacity constraints, processing techniques, material optimization, and workflow improvements.
  • Communicate plant maintenance needs to the Plant Manager and Maintenance.
  • Assist in refining and implementing the company's operational strategy, focusing on optimizing production processes, enhancing efficiency, and meeting KPIs related to quality, safety, and output.
  • Provide insights on capacity planning, resource allocation, and workflow improvements to ensure seamless operations and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Communicate any variance to operational plans to the ownership/leadership team.
Requirements
  • 3-5 years' experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven ability to solve problems and maximize production output while efficiently utilizing resources.
  • Proven ability to direct and train people with an emphasis on coaching and growing employees.
  • 2-5 years of Lean manufacturing experience, preferably in a Job Shop.
  • The ability to train and implement Lean concepts to the production staff, including Value Added, Time, Kanban Systems, and 5S.
Authority
  • Oversee the execution of production on the 2nd shift.
  • Recommend promotion and dismissal of employees.
  • Recommend all pay changes.
