Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate adoption discussions and showcase animals to potential adopters.
- Deliver outstanding customer service to individuals interested in adopting.
- Address inquiries regarding animals and the adoption procedure.
- Provide nurturing care to all shelter animals.
- Ensure the accuracy of documentation and manage the adoption paperwork.
- Exhibit patience and understanding when assisting guests in challenging situations.
- Conduct follow-up consultations post-adoption.
- Perform adoptions for animals with unique medical or behavioral requirements.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of various animal species and offer solutions for common challenges faced in adoptive homes.
- Oversee the general care of animals, including feeding, watering, and cleaning living spaces.
- Uphold sanitary conditions for both animals and work areas.
- Execute responsibilities in alignment with company policies and relevant laws.
- Adhere to all safety protocols for oneself and others.
- Carry out additional tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience: High school diploma or equivalent. A minimum of one year of experience with animals (either personal or professional) and one year in customer service is preferred. A combination of education and experience may be considered.
Skills: Ability to interpret basic instructions and correspondence. Proficient in presenting information in individual and small group settings. Capable of applying basic mathematical concepts. Must be able to comprehend detailed instructions and apply common sense in executing tasks, as well as handle problems with few concrete variables. Strong animal handling abilities are preferred. Proficient in computer applications such as Word and Excel; willingness to learn internal software. Ability to operate an animal chip scanner and cash register, and use cleaning supplies effectively.
Physical Requirements: This role requires the employee to frequently remain stationary, navigate the facility, and lift weights up to 20 pounds. Regular communication with others is necessary, and occasional lifting of heavier weights may be required.
