Design Human Factors Engineer for Next Generation Aircraft

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Design Human Factors Engineer to join our team at American Honda Motor Co. in the development of next generation aircraft.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of human-centered design, working closely with cross-functional teams to create safe and user-friendly aircraft systems.

As a Design Human Factors Engineer, you will be responsible for defining, validating, verifying, evaluating, and certifying human factors aspects of the aircraft, including user anthropometrics, system and equipment design, ingress and egress, reach, visibility, user strength, comfort, workload, human error, FHA validation, and maintenance accessibility.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Human Factors Design Definition: Utilize various techniques and platforms, such as hand sketches, PowerPoint, or other software, to define and evaluate human factors aspects of the aircraft.
  2. Analysis and Evaluation: Conduct task analyses, human error analyses, desktop reviews/interviews with users, CAD evaluations, virtual/mixed reality, mockup, simulator, and aircraft testing to validate human factors aspects.
  3. Requirements Management: Define requirements related to human factors aspects and support the development of compliance documents, interaction with regulatory authorities, and relevant industry committees.
Qualifications and Experience
  • A degree in human factors or a related field, or a combination of a degree in engineering and experience in human factors.
  • Experience in human factors related to civil aircraft, with strong applicants encouraged to apply from military aircraft or automotive backgrounds.
  • Motivated to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes.
