We are seeking an experienced Senior Technical Communications Engineer to join our team at the Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC) in Arnold AFB. This is a full-time position with a competitive salary of $120,000 - $150,000 per year.

Job Description

As a Senior Technical Communications Engineer, you will provide technical communications design support for complex and critical communications projects. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting systems engineering efforts for communications/IT and related specialties such as Instrumentation, Data, and Controls, Control Systems, Network Engineering, Inside/Outside Plant, etc.
  • Providing engineering reviews and suggesting solutions for the analysis, design, integration, installation, testing, and life-cycle support of new and upgraded systems associated with delivery of infrastructure capabilities.
  • Performing requirements analyses and conceptual designs.
  • Surveying, evaluating, and providing technical advice concerning all existing infrastructures, communications, and environmental aspects of the site.
  • Developing implementation plans reflecting the strategy, schedule, and recommendations (i.e., site architecture, topology, and configuration) for the implementation with considerations of on-site failover and continuity of operations.
  • Working with senior engineers to design, develop, install, document, and test custom solutions and their infrastructures.
  • Providing network management and technical support in the area of communications engineering with an emphasis on distribution systems for complex and critical communications projects.
  • Implementing, testing, integrating, and supporting requirements for AF IT infrastructure to meet mission requirements and regulatory constraints, within a required time frame designated by the Government.
  • Providing technical and management support for future efforts to transition the base from the existing LAN/MAN to newer technologies.
  • Investigating and analyzing innovative and emerging technologies that in the most economic and efficient manner improve not only IT system performance and support, but also mission performance.
  • Constantly evaluating the existing and planned information technology environment, assessing areas for improvement, making recommendations, and implementing directed changes.
  • Working with senior engineers and management teams to support IT strategic planning in conjunction with the government.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of 3+ years of experience in systems engineering and integration.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • A valid Security+ CE certification.
  • A Microsoft certification.
  • A thorough understanding of application software, operating systems, networks, storage platforms, and how they relate to system architecture.
  • Experience working on each stage of the system development life cycle from initiation through deployment/sustainment.
  • Familiarity with ITIL and IT best practices.
  • Able to elicit and interpret requirements and work with senior engineers to translate into technical specifications/system design following best practices and design patterns.
  • Able to communicate with management, technical staff, and end-users in a clear and professional manner.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to develop and present technical presentations.
  • Able to represent complex data in diagrams or through other techniques that communicate precise information to both business and technical staff.
