Senior Field Finance Officer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Operations Specialist to join our team at the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES). As a key member of our finance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of accounting information and providing financial support functions to our programs.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and finance, with experience in financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance. You will be responsible for maintaining a comprehensive control system, reviewing cash payment requests, and providing full-service accounting for projects.
As a Financial Operations Specialist, you will work closely with our program staff to ensure that financial policies and procedures are followed, and that financial reports are accurate and timely. You will also be responsible for monitoring program performance versus budget and funding, and preparing month-end reporting and account reconciliations.

Key Responsibilities- Maintain a comprehensive control system, including policies and reporting procedures, to ensure efficient financial performance and accurate reporting.
- Review cash payment requests and wire transfer requests to ensure timeliness and compliance with IFES procedures.
- Provide full-service accounting for projects, including advance account reconciliation and financial reporting.
- Work with other Field Finance team members to provide financial support functions and ensure compliance with IFES policies and donor requirements.
- Monitor program performance versus budget and funding, and prepare month-end reporting and account reconciliations.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field, or equivalent experience.
- At least 6 years of experience in finance or accounting, preferably with USAID and non-USG donor business development and government grants and contracts.
- Strong understanding of financial reporting software packages, including Deltek Costpoint, Cognos, and QuickBooks.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with program staff and other stakeholders.
