Job Summary

NYC Health Hospitals is seeking a highly skilled Diagnostic Radiographer to join our team. As a Diagnostic Radiographer, you will be responsible for providing high-quality radiological services to patients, utilizing state-of-the-art equipment and technology.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and position patients correctly for specific examinations, observing different and special requirements for each protocol.
  • Assume responsibilities for designated areas and/or procedures, producing good technical images and reviewing completed exams for quality and completeness.
  • Assist physicians during procedures as necessary, performing diagnostic and special procedure medical radiographic images utilizing radiologic assistance.
  • Perform equipment Quality assurance and calibrations as needed, ordering supplies and processing film/images or printing CDs if required.
  • Perform routine office tasks, such as answering phones, checking-in patients, obtaining previous reports/films, or other related duties as needed.
  • Show radiologist images and call reports to the attending physician, documenting communications if necessary (wet readings).
  • May be assigned as an instructor or preceptor, treating all people/staff in a professional and courteous manner, upholding the WPH's behavioral standards.
  • Introduce yourself and educate each patient or family member regarding the examination that is ordered, knowledgeable and skillful in providing care based on age, physical and psychosocial needs of different patient populations.
  • Participate in QA projects and program meetings as assigned, maintaining the cleanliness of all work areas, equipment, and accessories, reporting all malfunctioning equipment to BioMed or supervisor.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development, maintaining current registry certification, licensure, and education requirements, conforming to policies governing uniform dress code, attendance, and punctuality.
  • Maintain customer service expectations according to ICARE standards, maintaining all patients' information (confidentially) according to HIPPA compliance standards.
  • Assist and direct patients in preparation of examination, applying knowledge of Universal Precautions to minimize exposure to/spread of infectious organisms, complying with Infection Control policies and procedures, fire and medical emergency protocols, Administrative policies governing patient abuse, patient rights, and confidentiality of information (HIPAA).
  • Utilize two patient identifiers for patient identification, performing other related duties as required, attending staff meetings and in-services, coverage rotation to other outpatient offsites as needed.
Requirements
  • Valid license and current registration to practice Diagnostic Radiography as a Radiologic Technologist issued by the NYSDOH.
  • Two (2) years of Radiologic Technologist experience performing duties consistent with Assignment Levels I and II, one (1) year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity.
  • Current advanced level certification for the performance of mammography procedures, including 40 hours of training in mammography, anatomy, and physiology, QA/QC, and 25 mammography exams under direct supervision by an MQSA individual during the orientation.
  • ARRT (M) certification, CA Mammography Certification, AZ Mammography Certification, NV Mammography Certification, and BLS Certified.
  • Spanish or a second language preferred.
