Job Title: Director, Development Operations

At the Hospital for Special Surgery, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Development Operations to join our team. As a key member of our Development Operations department, you will play a critical role in supporting our fundraising efforts and ensuring the effective management of our financial resources.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance enterprise-wide systems and processes, ensuring accurate financial reporting and fund management.
  • Develop and manage the Foundation's operating budget, providing insightful analysis and reporting to senior leadership and department managers.
  • Ensure audit compliance for gift processing and fund management, including financial reporting for 990 and State Charity Registration.
  • Lead within the Operations Team to identify challenges and opportunities that can be addressed to improve services, increase technology adoption, and monitor data quality for internal stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement data quality standards and internal financial controls that follow industry best practices.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in development operations or nonprofit financial management, preferably in an academic medical center or healthcare enterprise.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Strong understanding of financial and accounting principles, with experience in financial planning and reporting.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement strategic plans, manage projects, and support senior-level administrators.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to engage effectively with donors, colleagues, and senior management.
