Environmental Sustainability Specialist

At Stellex Hammer Midco LLC, we are seeking a dedicated Environmental Health and Safety Professional to join our team at our Kutztown, PA Plant.

Job Overview

As the original designers of the first standard automatic coupler, our company has been continuously innovating and crafting high-quality products since 1869. With locations in Pittsburgh, McKees Rocks, and Kutztown, we offer a steady, dependable, and economical supply of coupler products.

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual to lead, develop, implement, and oversee the site's environmental health and safety programs and procedures to safeguard employees and surrounding communities and ensure facility compliance with regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct studies and investigations to ensure compliance with government safety and health laws, standards, and regulations, as well as industrial hygiene and environmental safety.
• Investigate accidents, promote safety-conscious work performance, and provide training programs.
• Manage Continuous Improvement Initiatives for the site.
• Provide training and education to employees on safety practices, emergency response procedures, and personal protective equipment (PPE) usage.
• Develop and maintain emergency response plans, including fire safety, spill response, and evacuation procedures.
• Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, training activities, incident investigations, and environmental compliance.
• Identify opportunities for improving safety performance and environmental sustainability.

Your success will be defined by your ability to drive the site to a goal of zero injuries, focusing on leading a safety-first culture and identifying and fixing leaning and lagging indicators of health and safety for the site.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of related Environmental Health and Safety experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Written and verbal fluency in Spanish is strongly preferred.
• Experience in a Steel foundry or other manufacturing site is preferred.
• Able to work independently.
• Able to provide coverage for all shifts.

Education and Certifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field is required.
• Relevant certifications are preferred (e.g., Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)).

Estimated Salary: $85,000 - $110,000 per year
