Public Relations Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Communications Manager to join our team at CAIR Sacval. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive media and public relations strategy that showcases our organization's expertise and enhances our image within key constituencies.
This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic team at a critical time in our organization's history. The Communications Manager will play a key role in shaping our public image and building relationships with key stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a strategic media and public relations plan that aligns with our organizational goals
- Serve as the primary point of contact for media inquiries and cultivate relationships with key media outlets
- Manage our social media presence and develop a content strategy that engages our target audience
- Oversee the development and implementation of digital communications campaigns
- Draft and edit external communications, including press releases, fact sheets, and action alerts
- Pitch and secure stories with key media outlets to ensure coverage of our programs and initiatives
- Review and edit publications, including our annual report and other reports
- Manage and speak at press conferences and events, preparing talking points, speeches, and presentations as needed
- Represent CAIR Sacval through public speaking and community engagements
- Supervise the Communications team, including the Social Media Manager, and provide guidance on day-to-day tasks and projects
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field
- 3-5 years of experience in a communications or public relations role
- Experience working with media as an on-the-record spokesperson
- Ability to delegate and supervise department staff
- Foundational understanding of design and visual elements and how to create simple yet effective graphics
- Experience managing and writing copy for social media
- Familiarity with communicating with the Muslim community
- Experience with graphic design programs, such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite
- Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills
- High energy, maturity, and leadership with the ability to serve as a unifying force and to position communications discussions at both the strategic and tactical level
- Self-starter, able to work independently, and entrepreneurial; enjoys creating and implementing new initiatives
- Commitment to social justice and passion for CAIR's mission and values
