About the Role

Advocate Aurora Health is seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist Level I to join our team in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure a clean, safe, and efficient operating room environment, adhering to aseptic surgical techniques and protocols.
  • Prepare and maintain equipment, supplies, and materials for various surgical procedures, including gowning and gloving, draping, and instrument setup.
  • Assist surgeons and other medical staff during procedures, anticipating their needs and providing necessary instruments and supplies.
  • Maintain a sterile, dry, and unobstructed field, observing and reporting any breaks in aseptic technique.
  • Participate in environmental disinfection, safety, and efficiency initiatives, including setting up the operating room for each case and operating various equipment.
  • Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure smooth procedure execution and patient care.
Requirements
  • Completion of an accredited or approved program in Surgical Technology.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) within 6 months.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
Working Conditions
  • Must be able to withstand a fast-paced and stressful environment.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist, lift up to 20 lbs. over the head, and carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance.
  • Must be able to push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.
  • Must have functional sight and hearing, and be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently during the work shift.
