Job Summary

The Trauma Performance Improvement Coordinator RN plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of care provided to trauma patients at Henrico Doctors' Hospital Forest. This position is responsible for coordinating performance improvement activities, managing data, and guiding outreach and educational initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serves as a resource to the Trauma Program Director and Trauma Medical Director regarding performance improvement activities, including identification, planning, data collection, analysis, recommendations, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Assists in defining and designing data collection for indicators under the direction of the Trauma Program Director and Trauma Medical Director.
  • Designs trauma registry queries, coded variables, and standard and ad-hoc reports.
  • Works with the Trauma Program Director and Trauma Medical Director to develop database queries for performance improvement activities and/or research.
  • Attends Trauma Program and multidisciplinary meetings and utilizes problem-solving skills to determine opportunities for improvement.
  • Reports performance, process, statistical data, and outcome indicators in meetings as needed.
  • Responds to Trauma Team Activations during work hours to seek opportunities for improvement.
  • Maintains efficient tracking of performance improvement activities in accordance with the Virginia Department of Health Trauma Center Accreditation Guidelines.
  • In conjunction with the Trauma Medical Director and Trauma Program Director, ensures site is prepared for Virginia Office of EMS designation survey and ACS verification survey.
Requirements
  • Current Virginia license to practice nursing required
  • BSN or Bachelor's in related field preferred
  • Trauma (TCRN), Emergency (CEN) or Critical Care Nursing (CCRN) preferred
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS certified. TNCC preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a healthcare setting, trauma center experience preferred
  • Instructor in TNCC, ATCN or CATN preferred
