Job Summary
As a Cardiac Telemetry Nurse, you will provide and coordinate patient care, education, and emotional support to patients and their families. Your expertise will be invaluable in performing individualized client-centered assessments, developing and implementing plans of care, providing patient education, and interpreting cardiac rhythms.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform individualized client-centered assessments, prioritizing data collection based on the patient's immediate and ongoing condition or needs.
- Develop and perform plan of care that is individualized for the patient population served, reflecting collaboration with other members of the healthcare team.
- Provide individualized patient/family education specific to the patient population served.
- Interpret, document, and monitor patient's cardiac rhythm per policy, reporting early signs of deterioration and responding to emergency situations within one hour.
- Accurately administer medication utilizing BCMA.
- Demonstrate proficiency in performing life-saving measures according to adult resuscitation protocols.
- Familiarize yourself with new equipment, medications, and nursing processes by attending in-service education opportunities.
- Initiate and implement applicable core measures and protocols.
- Adhere to infection prevention protocols, including hand hygiene, CLABSI, CAUTI, VAE, and Surgical Site Infections, as well as transmission-based precautions.
- Adhere to HIPAA rules and regulations and current patient safety standards.
- Ensure proper discharge instructions and medication reconciliation, including follow-up referrals.
- Assist with bedside interventional procedures.
- Precept new nurses as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice.
Qualifications and Skills
- Strong interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written, with fluency in English required; bilingualism preferred but not necessary.
- NJ or multi-state compact RN license.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, with BSN/MSN preferred.
- 6 months to 1 year experience in a healthcare setting preferred but not required.
- BSN preferred.
- BLS – AHA approved.
- ACLS within 6 months of hire.
- Specialty certification preferred, IV certification preferred, and competent in arrhythmia recognition within 6 months of employment.
- New nursing graduates required to attend the onsite Nursing Residency Program.
Estimated Salary: $65,000-$80,000 per year, depending on experience
