Job Summary

We're seeking a highly skilled Senior Research Engineer to join our Research and Consulting team within the Advanced Energy practice. As a key member of our team, you'll be responsible for developing and delivering energy simulation studies, collaborating with a team of energy simulation analysts, and supporting the development and maintenance of building simulation and analysis frameworks.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver energy simulation studies, collaborating with a team of energy simulation analysts
  • Support the development and maintenance of building simulation and analysis frameworks
  • Conduct technical analysis in support of developing policy solutions, such as building energy codes and local ordinances
  • Assist with troubleshooting and developing solutions to complex energy simulation challenges
  • Work with multi-disciplinary teams, speaking to the best practices and technical execution of building simulation
  • Conduct quality control review of the work of peers and junior staff
  • Translate results into actionable recommendations and communicate via written reports and graphical presentations
  • Conduct meetings and presentations
  • Mentor and oversee junior staff, providing guidance and training as needed
Qualifications
  • University degree in Engineering, Architecture, Building Science, Physics, or related discipline
  • Minimum of four years of experience in building simulation analysis, with experience in graduate research using building simulation a plus
  • Demonstrated knowledge of building science and building systems, including envelope, HVAC, DHW, and control systems
  • Understanding of the fundamentals of building simulation engines and underlying algorithms
  • Demonstrated expertise with at least one simulation engine, with Energy Plus a requirement
  • Ability to support multiple projects, meet deadlines, work both independently and collaboratively, and communicate effectively
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Track record of working with clients to communicate research methods and findings

Compensation

Salary range: $90,000 - $125,000 per year, depending on experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors. Employee may be eligible for participation in the company's annual discretionary bonus program.
