Salary & Benefits

Job Description

This position is responsible for driving revenue growth by providing retail agents with prompt underwriting capability and access to highly rated national transportation carriers. The ideal candidate will have excellent oral and written communication skills, strong analytical and organizational skills, and the ability to convey insurance and risk management expertise in ways that build trust and credibility.

Responsibilities:
  • Prospect for new transportation business through active networking and relationship-building with independent retail agents.
  • Underwrite commercial transportation risks by reviewing, analyzing, accepting, and declining risks based on SMO's underwriting criteria.
  • Review submissions to identify exposure/risk and determine accurate classifications, rates, and premium charges.
  • Market products to retail insurance agents and brokers by coordinating marketing plans with management.
  • Communicate with management regarding individual accounts, current and proposed producers, and recommendations concerning operations, systems, and procedures when appropriate.
  • Underwrite renewal business in accordance with SMO's guidelines.
  • Communicate with management and insurance companies regarding policy and submission issues.
  • Verify completeness and accuracy of policies and endorsements, following up for corrections as needed.
Requirements:
  • Home state P&C license or willingness to obtain within the first 90 days of employment.
  • PC literacy, including proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills, with excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Prompt responsiveness and commitment to meet the needs of retail agents and their insureds.
  • Professional experience demonstrating foundational decision-making, analytical, quantitative, and interpersonal skills.
