Physical Therapist

As a Physical Therapist, you will play a vital role in our interdisciplinary team, working collaboratively with clinicians, managers, and schedulers to provide optimal patient experiences and meet patient needs.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive initial exams, evaluating patient data to identify functional impairments and develop individually designed programs of physical therapy treatment.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to plan, implement, and assess intervention programs, ensuring seamless communication and coordination of care.
- Manage patient caseloads, scheduling therapy revisits and reassessments as needed, and making referrals to occupational therapy, speech therapy, nursing, social work, home health aide, and hospice services as applicable.
- Administer therapeutic exercises, range of motion treatment, gait training, stair training, home safety training, and therapeutic activity to improve patient function, increase endurance, and enhance quality of life.
- Monitor patient vital signs and physiological response to treatment sessions, communicating findings to team members and physicians, and responding appropriately to changes in patient status.
- Assign patients to physical therapy assistants as needed, providing supervision in accordance with PT practice Act and PCAH policies.
- Discharge patients from physical therapy when goals or projected outcomes have been attained or patient is no longer homebound, providing for appropriate follow-up care or referrals after discharge.
Penn Medicine requires a Physical Therapist with a degree from a CAPTE-accredited school of physical therapy or a national organization recognized by the Pennsylvania State Board of Physical Therapy. A valid license to practice physical therapy in Pennsylvania and/or New Jersey is also required, depending on geographic location and scope of responsibilities.
