Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Electrical & Instrumentation Inspector to join our team on a contract basis.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical and instrumentation systems, with experience in inspection and testing of industrial equipment.

The Inspector will be responsible for conducting visual and physical inspections, witnessing testing, and reviewing QA/QC documentation, including MTRs.

A report of findings will be required for each inspection, with a specific time limit for completion.

The Inspector will be required to sign an independent contractor agreement with SGS North America Inc.

Work will be assigned on an as-needed basis, with payment for hours/days spent on assigned work.

Each time an inspection is completed, an invoice with a timesheet is expected to pay the Inspector for the completed job.

Normal payment terms are 15 to 20 days after receipt of invoice.

Requirements
  • Electrical and/or Instrumentation Journeyman certification
  • Other E&I trade certification
  • Understanding and familiarity with applicable codes and standards, such as NEC, IEEE, and ANSI, plus relevant safety regulations
  • Ability to understand schematic wiring drawings
  • Working knowledge of PLC and associated instruments
  • Experience with LV, MV, and HV equipment, such as switchgear and protection devices
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with inspection work
  • Experience in the Oil & Gas industry and Power and Utility sectors
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow work instructions in a safe, accurate, and timely manner
  • Proficiency in using computer software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including grammar and composition
  • Proven time management skills and a strong attention to detail
  • Pay range: $35 to $55 per hour, with mileage reimbursement and expense reimbursement for extended travel
  • Work schedule: Ad hoc, as required by the client
