The Utilization Management Coordinator plays a critical role in ensuring the effective use of resources within our behavioral health setting. This includes reviewing and monitoring the utilization of resources related to patients, with the goal of maximizing the effectiveness of care by evaluating clinical appropriateness.

As a liaison between payors, the business office, and treatment teams, the Utilization Management Coordinator provides information and feedback to assist in optimum patient care and reimbursement. This involves reviewing with payor sources and receiving authorization for the type and volume of services through all levels of care and aftercare review.

Qualifications
  • Education: A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in nursing, or a master's degree in social work, mental health, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of one year of experience with communication with external review organizations or comparable entities, or four years of direct clinical experience in a psychiatric or mental health setting is required.
  • Licensure: RN, LCSW, MFT, MSW degree, LVN/LPT, or applicable license is required.
  • Additional Requirements: Training in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) within the first 30 days of employment is required.
