Probation Officer

We are seeking a skilled Probation Officer to join our team at the County of Clarion. As a key member of our community services department, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals on probation and helping them achieve their rehabilitation goals.

• Inform adult offenders of their probation conditions, including office visits, costs, fines, and restitution payments.
• Counsel offenders and provide supportive services to help them adjust to life in the community.
• Arrange for social assistance, medical treatment, and other post-release services as needed.
• Develop case plans for assigned offenders, setting goals and objectives based on individual risk and needs.
• Evaluate progress and maintain records of direct contact with offenders, as well as collateral contacts with families, law enforcement, and service providers.
• Prepare incident reports and make recommendations for remedial action or court proceedings when necessary.
• Conduct pre-sentence investigations and prepare written reports with recommendations for the court.

To succeed in this role, you must possess strong casework principles and practices, as well as the ability to interpret and apply federal, state, and local laws, legal codes, and court procedures. Experience working with individuals on probation or parole is highly desirable.

This position involves frequent interactions with offenders, some of whom may be volatile or hostile. You will need to remain calm and composed under pressure, while also demonstrating empathy and understanding.
