Job Summary

The Maintenance Mechanic will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities, equipment, and processes. This individual will be responsible for conducting preventive maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting activities to minimize downtime and optimize production.

Responsibilities
  • Execute equipment maintenance and repair programs to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance activities, including scheduling, planning, and execution, to prevent equipment failures and reduce maintenance costs.
  • Perform troubleshooting and repairs on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, as well as plumbing and carpentry.
  • Partner with the Facilities and Equipment Manager to enhance Preventive Maintenance systems and procedures on all equipment.
  • Respond promptly to all service requests with a high level of internal customer service.
  • Assist equipment operators to improve line efficiency and optimize production.
  • Perform duties in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and food safety guidelines.
  • Maintain communication and relationships with multiple 3rd-party service providers.
  • Install, assemble, and test new and existing production machinery and equipment, ensuring compliance with workplace safety regulations.
  • Monitor, identify, and respond promptly to signs of malfunction in machinery, including changes in performance, temperature fluctuations, sounds, smells, or atypical energy usage.
  • Perform emergency repairs on various types of machinery, including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic, and identify and replace worn or damaged parts in a timely manner.
  • Maintain machinery and the adjacent workplace in a state of appropriate cleanliness and create and maintain a schedule for inspection, service, and testing.
  • Read and comply with work orders concerning service, modification, or installation of equipment.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals.
  • Plan, organize, and maintain equipment and records.
  • Perform duties effectively in a diverse teamwork environment.
Requirements
  • 2 years of experience in maintaining, repairing, overhauling, and troubleshooting processing, packaging, and material handling equipment in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to assess mechanical problems, make recommendations, communicate effectively, and resolve issues quickly while working under pressure.
  • Experience troubleshooting PLCs and controls instrumentation (limited).
  • Strong mechanical and manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Basic computer skills, including email, MS D365, Google, and Microsoft Suites.
  • Experience with operating and maintaining mechanical, plumbing, electrical, pneumatic systems.
  • Understanding of OSHA regulations and experience working in SQF and GMP regulated food environments preferred.
