Process Engineer II

Corning Incorporated is seeking a highly skilled Process Engineer II to join our team in Concord, NC or Wilmington, NC. As a key member of our Division Engineering organization, you will be responsible for advancing our capabilities in the preform manufacturing process. This will involve leading cost reduction, process and raw material optimization, engineered safety improvements, standards and governance among sites, and ensuring manufacturing readiness for new processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Use fundamental engineering concepts to drive capability advancements in glassmaking processes.
Lead capacity, cost reduction, and process improvement projects that have division-wide implication.
Work between technology and plant manufacturing organizations to ensure smooth deployment of new technologies, products, and processes by identifying and/or leading implementation of required capabilities.
Collaborate with global manufacturing sites to coordinate and solve glassmaking-related issues and concerns.
Participate in site-to-site standards and governance effort. This includes identifying, auditing, and driving compliance to governed process parameters across sites.
Requirements:
B.S. in Engineering (Ceramics, Chemical or Materials preferred).
2+ years' experience in process engineering, glass or material engineering is preferred.
Strong data analysis and statistical skills. Experience with statistical packages such as Minitab and JMP. Strong computer skills, including ability to analyze data using Excel and Access.
Strong mastery of fundamental engineering concepts with demonstrated ability to apply to manufacturing problems.
Ability to multitask and prioritize work on an independent basis in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Strong communication and presentation skills.
Able to execute assignments with minimal supervision.
Able to collaborate with varied levels and functions within the organization, including manufacturing, technology, R&D, operations, procurement, IT, and supply chain.
