Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Facilities Manager to join our team at Advocate Health. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the planning, operation, and maintenance of our facilities, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and guidelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and oversee the planning, operation, and maintenance of heating, cooling, power plant, electrical, emergency power, fire protection systems, plumbing, grounds, and carpentry.
  • Identify and recommend changes and improvements in the physical plant to ensure safe operation and compliance with codes and regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory and accrediting agency standards and guidelines for facilities operations.
  • Coordinate construction, remodeling, and renovation projects, including managing utility interruptions and ensuring contractual provisions and construction schedules are met.
  • Develop and implement utility system redundancy plans and emergency procedures in the event of failure.
  • Manage Facilities Operations quality improvement through established performance indicators and a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Plan, develop, execute, and monitor preventative maintenance programs throughout the facility.
  • Develop and update policies, procedures, and practices to improve operational effectiveness and safety.
  • Perform human resources responsibilities for staff, including interviewing, selection, promotions, staff development, performance evaluations, compensation changes, and employee morale.
  • Develop and recommend operating and capital budgets and control expenditures within approved budget objectives.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field.
  • Typically requires 5 years of experience in plant or facilities operations, including 1 year of supervisory experience in mechanical and electrical engineering, and/or HVAC.
  • Advanced knowledge of applicable codes and regulations, as well as electricity, plumbing, HVAC, steam fitting, soldering, carpentry, fabricating, and groundskeeping.
  • Intermediate computer skills and excellent communication, organization, prioritization, and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of healthcare building construction and a strong desire to help people, particularly with patient interactions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Health Care Facility Manager (CHFM) certification issued by the American Hospital Association (AHA) or Health Care Compliance (CHC) certification issued by the Compliance Certification Board (CCB).
Working Conditions

This position requires travel, exposing the incumbent to weather and road conditions. The successful candidate will operate all necessary equipment and be exposed to a normal office environment.
