Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Patient Financial Counselor to join our team at HCA Florida Citrus Hospital. As a key member of our revenue cycle team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the financial well-being of our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and manage the Financial Clearance Worklist daily to identify patients with outstanding balances.
  • Collect estimated patient liability amounts and provide clear explanations of financial information and responsibilities.
  • Work closely with outside agencies to ensure patients' financial coverage and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and follow AIDET guidelines in all interactions with patients.
  • Collaborate with Medicaid Eligibility Staff to visit uninsured patients and provide financial assistance.
  • Generate insurance verification and precertification reports daily and follow up with case management and insurance verification departments as needed.
  • Follow all guidelines set forth in the Cash Handling policy and utilize eligibility systems to determine insurance benefits and precertification requirements.
  • Assist patients with payment arrangements and coordinate with Medicaid Eligibility Staff to assist patients with financial applications.
  • Escalate any concerns to the Patient Access Manager/Supervisor as needed.
  • Enter pertinent insurance information into the HIS system and maintain accurate records.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • 1 year of related experience required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
