Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Diagnostic Imaging Specialist to join our team at Carle Health. As a Radiologic Technologist, you will be responsible for performing routine and specialized diagnostic radiological procedures for patients of all ages.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform radiologic diagnostic procedures in a manner that ensures an accurate and complete examination within the guidelines, policies, procedures, and standards of medical imaging.
- Exhibit competency and be the resource person to staff when performing radiographic procedures.
- Maintain quality care throughout the procedure, making patient as comfortable as possible, practicing radiation protection through shielding and collimation whenever possible.
- Properly care for the patient, ensuring efficient and expedient care.
- Maintain expert working knowledge of equipment and be the resource person for troubleshooting.
- Maintain a clean work area, check and stock all supplies in their specific area, and verify pertinent accessories to that room.
- Perform lab testing as appropriate.
Departmental Support:
- Perform support functions of the medical imaging department to ensure patient expectations and needs are met.
- Promptly and accurately process and prepare images and paperwork to ensure timely turnaround in providing a report.
- Maintain and coordinate patient flow to ensure efficient and expedient patient care, assisting in patient transport to and from the department as required.
- Promptly and accurately enter patient information into the HIS system and accurately complete all fields in the HIS Radiant and PACS.
- Maintain and ensure a safe environment for patients and personnel and maintenance of the QA, QC, QI programs.
Employee Development/Clinical Excellence:
- Assume personal responsibility for training fellow technologists/students and use time, supplies, and other resources productively.
- Display leadership skills in their daily process.
- Share knowledge, guide, and encourage participation from fellow technologists/students with proper department protocol and procedures.
- Display a professional attitude in the area toward fellow technologists/students, fostering mutual respect and creating a productive learning environment.
- Complete work within assigned shift using slow time to improve area appearance and accept additional assignments such as cassette cleaning, apron testing, and film file duties.
- Provide input on the evaluation of staff.
- Participate in the Quality Improvement process.
- Lead in the development of teamwork of staff to ensure efficient and appropriate patient care.
- Network with other professionals regionally.
- Demonstrate the ability to multitask to assist with workflow.
- Develop new processes utilizing creative ideas for a dynamic environment.
- Assist in achieving competencies.
- Maintain a current knowledge by keeping abreast of trends in new processes and procedures.
- Follow up on concerns/problems as needed.
- Display a professional attitude in order to foster mutual respect and creating a productive learning environment.
