Origination and Execution Specialist

Cubico Sustainable Investments is seeking an experienced Origination and Execution Specialist to join our Origination and Execution team in the US. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for identifying and executing investment opportunities for Cubico in the US, targeting acquisition of early and mid-stage greenfield renewable energy projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the US Head of Origination and Execution in identifying and executing investment opportunities for Cubico in the US.
  • Raise project finance and tax equity ahead of construction.
  • Refinance existing debt facilities for operational projects to optimize equity cash flow.
  • Oversee equity investment and underwriting processes, including task allocation and management throughout the investment cycle.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams, including Development, Investment Analysis, Legal, Finance, Tax, Technical, Asset Management, etc.
  • Work with external advisers in the Origination and Execution process, including M&A, Financial, Legal, and Technical advisors.
  • People Management: Train, support, and oversee collaborators in the execution and negotiation of investment transactions, preparation of internal presentations, analyzing optimal transactions, reviewing Due Diligence results, etc.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise:
  • Proven experience originating and executing renewable energy equity and debt transactions in the US.
  • Ability to structure and transact on early and mid-stage development assets through upfront or earnout structures.
  • Knowledgeable in raising and structuring US tax equity investments.
  • Deep understanding of various renewable energy technologies (wind, solar PV, battery storage) and the full investment cycle.
  • In-depth knowledge of the North American Electricity Market and U.S. development process.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to address contractual, commercial, and technical issues.
  • Ability to adapt and reassess priorities in challenging situations and tight deadlines.
  • Relevant academic and professional qualifications.
