Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Sterile Processing Technician to join our team at Medical City Dallas. As a Sterile Processing Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our patients by meticulously cleaning, decontaminating, assembling, sterilizing, and storing all reusable surgical instruments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect, assemble, and test general and specialty instrumentation for proper functioning.
  • Identify tray type by contents of instrument tray and identify malfunctioning instruments for replacement or repair.
  • Operate and maintain all sterilization equipment, including autoclaves, ultrasonic washers, and cart washers.
  • Prepare, assemble, and package all instruments for surgery and other hospital departments.
  • Prepare surgical sets, instruments, and trays according to prescribed procedures, ensuring all instrumentation is correct and customized case cart sheets for all surgical procedures.
  • Audit trays for decontamination, washing, assembly, sterilization, implant usage, and instrument count sheets, and track loaner equipment.
Requirements
  • Completion of a formal Sterile Processing Technician course or previous experience as a central sterile processing technician preferred.
  • National certification with International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM) or The Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) within 12 months of hire, preferred.
