Job Summary

The Rose by Hilton-Janko Hospitality is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join our culinary team. As a key member of our kitchen operations, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of food quality, safety, and presentation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate kitchen operations to ensure efficient and effective food production.
  • Maintain accurate records of food inventory, production, and waste management.
  • Develop and implement menu planning and costing strategies to optimize profitability.
  • Train and mentor junior staff members to enhance their culinary skills and knowledge.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef to develop and implement new menu concepts and recipes.
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Manage kitchen inventory and supplies to minimize waste and optimize resource utilization.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve customer satisfaction and loyalty.
Requirements
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a senior kitchen management role.
  • Proven track record of success in menu planning, food cost control, and kitchen operations.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills to motivate and train junior staff members.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Culinary degree from an accredited institution.
  • Food handling and sanitation certification.
  • Ability to prepare and present meals utilizing culinary principles, standards, techniques, and equipment.
Working Conditions
  • Physically and visually able to utilize a computer keyboard, printer, phones, and basic office supplies.
  • Firm and simple grasping is an ongoing requirement for all aspects of work.
  • Lifting of supplies occurs occasionally and may be up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to stand and walk 90% of the work day and sitting is usually limited to short breaks.
  • Reaching, pushing, pulling, and bending are required.
  • Twisting of the body at the waist is required.
