**Job Summary**
As an Occupational Therapy Assistant at South Bend Orthopaedics, you will play a vital role in providing direct patient care based on treatment plans established by our Occupational Therapists. Your primary responsibility will be to carry out treatment plans as prescribed by physicians and developed by our team of occupational therapists.

**Essential Functions**
• Carry out treatment plans as prescribed by physicians and developed by occupational therapists.
• Operate therapeutic equipment and devices, including crutches, walkers, exercise apparatus, canes, iontophoresis, electrical stimulators, istodex, traction, and heat/cold modalities.
• Document patient care and other relevant information for medical records, including history, treatment, and consultations.
• Comply with department policies, procedures, and regulations related to infection control, safety, and quality improvement.
• Assist with exam and exercise room cleanliness, equipment maintenance, supply inventorying, and stocking.
• Perform other duties as assigned by our team.

**Skills and Abilities**
• Ability to communicate clearly and establish/maintain cooperative relationships with patients, families, physicians, staff, and other customers.
• Ability to set priorities and organize patient workload effectively.
• Ability to assist in upkeep and organization of exam and exercise rooms, supplies, and equipment.
• Understanding of policies and regulations through providing a comfortable, orderly, clean, and safe clinic environment.
• The job holder must demonstrate current competencies applicable to the job position.
• Standard Qualifications
• Education: High School Diploma, BS preferred.
• Successful completion of accredited COTA curriculum.
• Current state COTA license; CPR certification.
• Experience: Minimum of one year experience, preferably in a clinic setting.
• Physical/Mental Demands
• Extensive physical activities, including standing, stooping, lifting, reaching, bending, and twisting.
• Ability to transport and transfer patients safely.
• Ability to lift and carry equipment and supplies up to 50 pounds.
• Occasional stress from dealing with workload and noncompliant patients.
• Environmental/Working Conditions
• Primarily treatment and exercise room setting.
• Exposure to communicable diseases and other conditions common to therapy settings.
