Administrative Support Specialist

Job Summary:
The Commonwealth of Virginia seeks a highly skilled Administrative Support Specialist to join their team. This key role will provide administrative support to the Commissioner's Office, working closely with the Deputy Commissioner and executive management level professionals to ensure the smooth operation of the office.
About the Role:
As a member of the Commissioner's Office immediate staff, you will independently perform a variety of administrative activities, including research, data analysis, and summarization. You will also provide guidance to staff in other offices or districts, serving as an information resource and ensuring quality and continuity of actions and information.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide administrative support to the Commissioner's Office, including research, data analysis, and summarization.
- Work closely with the Deputy Commissioner and executive management level professionals to ensure the smooth operation of the office.
- Provide guidance to staff in other offices or districts, serving as an information resource and ensuring quality and continuity of actions and information.
- Conduct research or assemble information and develop summaries.
Requirements:
- Comprehensive administrative support experience in an executive/senior level environment.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to adjust communications and successfully interact with different audiences.
- Ability to support, maintain, and/or refine internal administrative and legislative policies and procedures that support senior leadership within a large complex agency.
- Considerable analytical skills and knowledge of automated office processes and office management.
- Ability to work independently, anticipate needs, think critically, coordinate multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to deal with sensitive political issues requiring discretion and sound judgment.
- Considerable ability to multitask and maintain confidentiality.
