Medical Support Assistant

The Advanced Medical Support Assistant (AMSA) provides medical administrative support to one or more outpatient clinics, serving as an integral member of the clinic team to effectively carry out day-to-day administrative operations.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with interdisciplinary care delivery models to perform receptionist, customer service, and administrative duties for the proper and timely treatment of patients.
- Demonstrate substantial skill in planning, organizing, problem-solving, and decision-making.
- Maintain appointment schedules for one or more outpatient clinics, showcasing high levels of oral and written communication skills.
- Provide administrative support to clinical colleagues in the care of our Nation's Veterans.
- Utilize patient data systems to perform scheduling functions, including appointment scheduling/rescheduling, cancellations, and data entry.
- Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and staff to ensure seamless care coordination.
- Interpret and communicate requirements of VHA Scheduling Directives and policies.
- U.S. Citizenship
- Proficiency in written and spoken English
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology
This is a full-time position with a standard Monday-Friday schedule. Telework and virtual work arrangements are not available for this role.
