Job Summary

Odessa College Continuing Education Department is seeking a part-time Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) instructor to prepare students for their CNA exam and the field. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a cohort of up to 10 students over a one-semester period, performing classroom instruction and accompanying students to clinical sites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach the depth and scope of class materials as outlined in the syllabus and catalog, relating instruction to careers and employer expectations.
  • Utilize Blackboard for instruction and evaluation.
  • Implement evaluation for outcomes assessment and achieve established results while maintaining college standards of student satisfaction.
  • Work creatively and collaboratively with classes to ensure student persistence.
  • Begin and end each class at the designated times, providing a full period of instruction.
  • Responsible for keeping the classroom and/or laboratory clean, organized, and ready for the next user.
  • Provide support to students requiring additional academic assistance and tutoring.
  • Submit grades for all students on the class roster at designated times.
  • Accurately maintain attendance records in accordance with the Attendance Policy.
Requirements
  • Three (3) years of Licensed Vocational Nursing (LVN) or Registered Nurse (RN) experience in a Long Term Care facility setting.
  • Teaching experience preferred but not required.
Reporting Relationship

This position reports to the Director of Health Careers.
