Position Overview

Job Summary

The role involves engaging with patients who lack adequate insurance coverage and identifying potential organizations that can offer financial support for their medical expenses.

The Financial Counselor aids patients throughout the application process, ensuring timely completion of necessary forms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess daily patient lists to identify individuals needing financial interviews.
  • Conduct interviews to gather essential demographic and financial data, obtaining necessary signatures on forms.
  • Analyze medical and financial records to determine suitable actions for securing financial sponsorship.
  • Facilitate referrals to relevant agencies for Medicaid applications and assist in initiating applications on behalf of patients.
  • Maintain communication with patients via phone and written correspondence to ensure application completion within required timelines.
  • Coordinate with state agencies to confirm they possess all necessary documentation for application processing and decision-making.
  • Send patients official Letters of Determination regarding eligibility for indigent health care funds and charity programs.
  • Represent patients in local and state hearings for denied Medicaid or Social Security disability applications.
  • Arrange transportation services for patients in need and schedule pick-up times as required.
  • Verify information for all accounts under review for financial assistance and complete necessary requisitions for eligibility assessment.
Work Environment

This position operates in a dynamic office setting that may experience frequent interruptions. Some travel may be required to represent patients during appeals.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's Degree or a minimum of four years of relevant experience is required.
