About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Hospital.

Job Summary

The Respiratory Therapist provides comprehensive respiratory care, including advanced airway management and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. This role involves assessing patients, recommending therapeutic solutions, and ensuring high-quality care within the guidelines of hospital policies.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Evaluates patient's response to all respiratory care provided and appropriately documents required information as outlined in department policies and procedures.
  • Determines appropriateness and provides recommendations for respiratory care services, taking into consideration the needs of different age groups, cognitive abilities, and development status.
  • Initiates new routine orders within time specified in department policies and procedures.
  • Measures and adjusts airway cuff pressures.
  • Recommends changes in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to physicians, nursing, and/or co-workers.
Requirements

A graduate of a Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) approved school and passage of the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) certification examination is required. A minimum of one (1) year of experience as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in an acute care setting with regard to regulatory guidelines and standard of practice is also required.
