Job Summary

UPMC Shadyside is seeking a Casual Patient Care Technician to join their Resource Pool team. As a Patient Care Technician, you will deliver vital patient care and assist with departmental services according to established policies and procedures.

About the Role

Under the guidance of nurses or physicians, you will maintain high standards of patient care. Your responsibilities will include assisting with daily living activities, performing point-of-care testing, and ensuring a safe and clean environment.

Responsibilities
  • Direct Patient Care: Assist with daily living activities, perform point-of-care testing, and provide one-on-one supervision and companionship to patients.
  • Environmental Maintenance: Ensure a safe and clean environment by performing safety checks, organizing patient rooms, and managing equipment.
  • Supplies & Equipment Management: Acquire, distribute, and manage supplies and equipment.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Provide feedback to RN, communicate effectively with healthcare team members, and maintain professional relationships.
  • Documentation & Compliance: Document patient information accurately and complete clerical tasks.
  • Continuous Improvement: Receive and act on feedback, identify learning needs, and participate in self-review.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 year of experience or enrollment in PT/OT/PA program or related healthcare training program with completion of at least one clinical rotation.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
  • Act 34 clearance.
