Job Summary:

As a Transportation Coordinator, you will play a critical role in exceeding transportation service expectations by influencing inbound domestic, import, and outbound shipments to our regional store network. You will ensure timely communication with Store Operations, DC Operations, Carrier Management, and Store Support Center Transportation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Customer Service: Provide quality customer service communications to Stores, DC Operations, Store Support Center Team, and Carriers in a fast-paced environment.
  • Freight Management: Utilize effective decision-making in assigning freight to dedicated carriers and fleet drivers to maximize utilization per truck and reduce transportation expenses.
  • Outbound Performance: Proactively drive the outbound carriers' performance to ensure timely service.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with dedicated drivers.
  • Training: Train dedicated carrier personnel and fleet drivers on seal integrity, trip sheet process, recycling cardboard, tote, and repack return process, as well as the trailer inspection process (NC Fleet Only).
  • Time Management: Maintain Kronos time system, including auditing/correcting punches and producing reports. Also, enter all drivers' trip expenses into Concur and Tripsheet database.
  • Cross-Training: Cross-train individual duties with those of peers to ensure all daily accountabilities are met.
  • Import Container Management: Coordinate the timely pickup and delivery of all inbound tenders (backhauls) to ensure product is received in a timely manner.
  • Import Container Pools: Manage import container pools to ensure the DC has a plan for their efficient unload while eliminating unnecessary expenses.
  • Data Entry: Provide accurate data entry in all required management systems and data warehouses.
  • Claims Process: Support the claims process to ensure carrier/fleet procedures are being followed and departmental credits are received.
  • Operational Analysis: Identify operational trends, provide analysis of root cause, and implement processes to provide continuous improvement to the operation.
  • Confidentiality: Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Safety Procedures: Follow set safety procedures and guidelines to maximize personal safety.
  • Work Environment: Maintain an organized work area and promote a safe working environment within the Transportation department.
  • Company Policies: Follow all Company policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent required. Some college preferred.
  • Experience: 3 to 5 years of customer service experience preferred. Previous experience working with DOT regulations, driver hours of service a plus.
  • Skills: Working knowledge of Excel and Word, capable of creating and manipulating spreadsheets, and must be able to type 25+ words per minute.

Working Conditions:

Team Member will work in a climate-controlled (office) atmosphere; however, there may be frequent exposure to the Distribution Center (non-climate-controlled). Team Member may also be exposed to moving mechanical parts or equipment, fumes, and airborne particles as regulated by OSHA.

Associates may normally be exposed to and required to perform the handling, packaging, processing, storage, disposal, or transport of hazardous materials, the operation of a motor vehicle, palletized equipment, machinery, or power tools, repairing, maintaining, or monitoring the performance or operation of any equipment, where the malfunction or disruption of which could result in injury or property damage, the operation, maintenance, or oversight of infrastructure, including but not limited to, electric, gas, and water utilities, power generation or distribution, and the extraction, compression, processing, handling, packaging, storage, disposal, treatment, or transport of potentially volatile, flammable, combustible chemicals.

Availability:

Team Member will perform shift work and must be willing to work overtime, weekends, and/or holidays.
