About the Role

Phillips Auctioneers LLC is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Exhibition and Event Operations Assistant to join our team in New York.

This is a seasonal role that requires flexibility and adaptability to work varying hours, including weekends and evenings. As an Exhibition and Event Operations Assistant, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth execution of exhibitions, auctions, and events at our Park Avenue gallery and Long Island City warehouse.

Key Responsibilities
  • Exhibition Installation and Deinstallation: Assist with installing and deinstalling exhibition cases, handling artwork, and maintaining a safe and risk-free environment.
  • Auction Setup and Takedown: Participate in setting up auction furniture, lighting, and equipment, and assist with takedown activities after each event.
  • Event Support: Collaborate with the Event Technician to install and remove event-related equipment, such as sound systems and AV/IT gear.
  • Warehouse Assistance: Provide support with tasks related to art handling, packing, and shipping at our Long Island City warehouse.
Requirements
  • Experience: A minimum of 3 years' experience in an auction house, internationally recognized gallery, or museum is required.
  • Skills: Basic electrical skills, knowledge of painting and wall repair, carpentry skills, and experience with various packing methods are essential.
  • Education: A Fine Arts background is preferred but not required.
Working Conditions

The ideal candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced environment, lift up to 50-70 pounds, and maintain a high level of professionalism. This role may require working on weekends and evenings, so flexibility is a must.

Compensation

We offer a competitive hourly rate between $20.00-$23.00 per hour, depending on experience. If you are passionate about the arts and possess the necessary skills and qualifications, please submit your application.
