Environmental Storytelling Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and creative Environmental Storytelling Specialist to join our team at NOAA. As a key member of our Coastal Resilience Regional Challenge, you will play a crucial role in supporting the development and implementation of climate resilience initiatives across Washington State.
Job DescriptionIn this exciting role, you will work closely with our team to design and implement a storytelling strategy that showcases the impacts of climate change on coastal communities and highlights the importance of environmental resilience. You will develop engaging content, including written articles, videos, social media posts, and other multimedia formats, to raise awareness about the challenges facing our coastal ecosystems and the innovative solutions being implemented by our partners.
As an Environmental Storytelling Specialist, you will also have the opportunity to collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders, including community leaders, scientists, and policymakers, to co-create compelling stories that inspire action and promote environmental stewardship.
The ideal candidate will possess strong writing, communication, and interpersonal skills, as well as experience working with diverse communities and a passion for environmental storytelling.
Responsibilities- Develop and implement a comprehensive storytelling strategy to support the Climate Resilience Regional Challenge
- Create engaging content, including written articles, videos, social media posts, and other multimedia formats, to raise awareness about climate change impacts and environmental resilience initiatives
- Collaborate with community leaders, scientists, and policymakers to co-create compelling stories that inspire action and promote environmental stewardship
- Work closely with our team to identify and develop opportunities for storytelling and knowledge sharing
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Communications, Arts, Media, or a related field
- Strong writing, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Experience working with diverse communities and a passion for environmental storytelling
- Familiarity with ArcGIS Storymap creation and tribal engagement practices
This is a full-time position offering a competitive salary range of $47,876 - $54,500 per year, depending on experience, as well as a range of benefits, including medical insurance, paid holidays, personal days, professional development training, travel funding, and relocation allowance.
