This position exists to provide professional services to facility residents, including assessment and specialized nursing care consistent with the standards of the profession, legal, and regulatory requirements.

Job Duties:

  • Perform admission and daily assessments during clinical stays, identifying critical incidents, emergencies, acute illnesses, and behavior changes.
  • Implement appropriate nursing interventions, treatment plans, and physician referrals.
  • Document current, accurate, and pertinent information regarding care and treatment provided to individual residents.
  • Detect abnormality in resident's health status indicated by symptoms, vital signs, and laboratory results, and report information to physicians.
  • This position will be required to drive a State vehicle for off-site pre-admission assessments or take residents to doctors or hospitals.
  • Direct and implement nursing care to residents, ensuring compliance with accepted standards of nursing care, departmental policies, procedures, and VA and State of Colorado regulatory requirements.
  • Review and audit physician orders, MARS, CNA flow sheets, bathing schedules, and BM sheets to determine compliance with policies and standards of care as part of a department quality assurance activity.
  • Perform prescribed specialized treatments and ensure safe and accurate medication administration.
  • Responsible for IV administration and venipuncture according to physician orders, State, Federal, and VA regulations.
  • Monitor the clinical, physical, and environmental safety of all residents through regular assessments and rounds.

Requirements:

  • Current, valid licensure as a Registered Nurse from the Colorado Board of Nursing or any state participating in the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
  • Ability to work any shift, day, evening, night shifts, including holidays and weekends as needed.
  • Maintain a current CPR Card and perform CPR adequate compressions and ventilations per CPR guidelines.
  • Essential Service Designation: must report without delay or interruption to provide essential or emergency services to ensure health, safety, and welfare.
  • Must possess a valid Registered Nurse License (RN) from the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies or any state participating in the Nurse Licensure Compact in good standing.

Estimated Salary: $65,000 - $85,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications.
