Job Summary:

The Surgical Technician II in Labor and Delivery is a key member of the perioperative team, responsible for creating and maintaining a sterile field. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of operative procedures, equipment, anatomy, and surgeon preferences. The Surgical Technician II works closely with the team to provide exceptional care to surgical patients, from preoperative to post-operative care. Additionally, this role involves precepting and mentoring junior staff members.

Responsibilities:

  • Creation and maintenance of the sterile field
  • Anticipation of surgeon's needs intraoperatively
  • Collaboration with the perioperative team
  • Precepting and mentoring junior staff members

Requirements:

  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • BLS Certification - renewed bi-annually or as required by UVMMC
  • Proof of graduation from a Civilian, Military, or Hospital Based Surgical Technician Education Program and eligible to obtain National Certification via NBSTSA (CST) or NCCT (TS-C)
  • Minimum of two years successful experience as a Surgical Technician
