About the Role

As a Step Down Unit Registered Nurse, you will provide specialized care for patients transitioning from critical care.

You will assess, monitor, and treat patients in the step-down unit, collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, and ensure optimal outcomes in this setting.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized nursing care to patients transitioning from intensive care to general medical-surgical units.
  • Monitor and assess patients' vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and respiratory status in the step-down unit.
  • Administer medications, perform procedures, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Educate patients and families on post-intensive care recovery, medication management, and self-care techniques.
  • Communicate effectively with healthcare team members to facilitate patient progress and optimize outcomes in the step-down unit.

Required Qualifications

  • Current RN license
  • BLS (Other certifications as required by facility)
  • Two years of recent Step Down experience
  • Strong communication and adaptability skills
