The Cardiothoracic Surgery program at Sanger Heart & Vascular Institute is seeking a full-time advanced practice provider (APP) to join our growing team.

This APP will function independently in the inpatient hospital and operating room setting in collaboration with a supervising physician and other members of a multidisciplinary team.

The ideal candidate will have cardiothoracic or vascular surgery experience and be able to provide a wide range of surgical and medical services, including first assisting with cardiothoracic surgeries and demonstrating independent competency in endoscopic vein harvesting.

The APP will also be responsible for maintaining clinical and professional competency, as well as participating in education and training of APP students and fellows.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide first assistance in open and video assisted thoracic cases, as well as robotic lung surgery
  • Maintain knowledge and skill set of pre-, peri-, and postoperative procedures
  • Participate in education and training of APP students and fellows
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to coordinate patient care
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with patients, families, and healthcare providers

Requirements:

  • Graduation from an accredited NP or PA program
  • Approved to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in North and South Carolina
  • Current prescriptive privileges and DEA license required
  • BLS and ACLS for Healthcare Provider from AHA required
  • Certification in practice from a nationally recognized certifying body required
