Activities Coordinator

Overview:
Chelsea Jewish Lifecare, a residential and post-acute care provider, is seeking an Activities Assistant to join our Assisted Living team at the Kaplan Estates in Peabody, MA.
Salary: Estimated $18.00 - $25.00 per hour, depending on experience.
About the Role:
The Activities Assistant will deliver recreational and social programming for residents, in accordance with their individual assessment and care plans. This includes planning, coordinating, and implementing group activities and events.
Main Responsibilities:
- Program Development: Assist in planning, developing, organizing, and evaluating the activity program
- Resident Engagement: Interview residents or family members to obtain activity information, involve them in planning activity programs when possible
- Charted Activity Progress Notes: Ensure that all charted activity progress notes are informative and descriptive of the services provided and indicate the resident's response to the service
- Transportation: Drive the community vans and assist residents with transfers on and off the vans
- Virtual Visits: Schedule and coordinate FaceTime and Zoom virtual visits with residents and their families
- Monitoring and Escorting: Monitor and escort groups during Music Concerts, and to Activities on their appropriate floor
- Special Programs: May be required to help run special programs on occasional evenings or weekends, as needed
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma
- Certification: Therapeutic Recreation Certification preferred
- Experience: Minimum of one (1) year experience in long-term care or assisted living working directly with a geriatric population
- Computer Literacy: Computer literacy in MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet, and other programs utilized to research, track, and create materials for use in resident activities
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills and ability to relate professionally and positively to residents, family members, volunteers, and facility staff
- Independence and Flexibility: Ability to function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel, and support agencies
