Respiratory Care Specialist

Salary: $100,000 - $120,000 per year, depending on experience.
Job DescriptionWe are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Care Specialist to join our team. As a Respiratory Care Specialist, you will be responsible for performing safe respiratory therapy modalities as ordered by physicians, developing plans of care based on assessment data and standards of care, and identifying needs for alternative action in the plan of treatment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up, maintain, and monitor mechanical ventilation according to policy and procedure.
- Administer medications demonstrating thorough knowledge of policy and procedure.
- Assemble, select, and operate equipment for proper operation and cleanliness.
- Perform tracheal, endotracheal, and nasopharyngeal suctioning, including instillation of pharmacologic agents according to policy and procedure.
- Drawing and analyzing blood gases by arterial stick according to policy and procedure.
- Interpreting arterial blood gas and oximetry results.
Requirements:
- Graduate of an approved Respiratory Care program.
- Hold the credential of Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) from the National Board of Respiratory Care and a current license from the State of Connecticut to practice as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
- A candidate with a CRT credential must be registry eligible and obtain the RRT credential from the NBRC within 18 months of employment.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program Provider (NRP) or Neonatal Advanced Life Support (NALS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Advance Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications are desirable but not required.
