Job Summary:

The Jacksonville School District 117 is seeking a highly skilled Speech Language Pathologist Assistant to join our team. As a Speech Language Pathology Assistant, you will work closely with our Speech and Language Pathologists to provide support services to students with speech and language impairments.

Key Responsibilities:

Participate in teacher and parent conferences, including multidisciplinary conferences, IEP meetings, and annual reviews.
Implement IEPs for all students eligible for special education and related services in the area of speech and language impairment.
Provide in-service programs to parents, teachers, students, administrators, and other professionals.
Complete required documents and reports.
Participate on child study and teacher assistance teams.
Facilitate curriculum and instructional modifications.
Participate in continuing professional education.

Requirements:

Hold a two-year IDFPR-approved program in speech-language pathology assisting.
Successfully pass the licensure test and pay the application fee.
Possess a speech-language pathology assistant license.
Complete 10 hours of continuing education every two years.

Working Conditions:

The Speech Language Pathologist Assistant will work in a school setting, interacting with students, teachers, and other professionals. The ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations is essential. The ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups is also required. The Speech Language Pathologist Assistant must be able to work with mathematical concepts and apply concepts to practical solutions. The ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions is necessary. The Speech Language Pathologist Assistant must be able to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables. The ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program is essential. The Speech Language Pathologist Assistant must be able to plan and implement lessons based on District and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned. The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents, and community is required. The Speech Language Pathologist Assistant must be able to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing. The ability to perform all duties with the awareness of all District requirements and Board of Education policies is necessary. The Speech Language Pathologist Assistant must be able to regularly sit and occasionally walk and stand. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. The Speech Language Pathologist Assistant must be able to hear conversations in a quiet and/or noisy environment, and will continually need the ability to differentiate between bells, buzzers, etc.
